Agia Eleni beach

Unique rock formations plunge into the crystal-clear Ionian Sea to form a small pebbly beach called Agia Eleni. The green colours of the pines and cypress trees dominate the landscape. Agia Eleni Beach is unorganized, i.e. there are no umbrellas or sunbeds for rent. That adds up to its allure and makes it ideal for nature lovers.

The beach is located on the west side of Kefalonia island and it is accessible by car, motorbike or by boat.

Vatsa Beach

Vatsa beach is located 35 km from Argostoli and 9 km from Lixouri, in the peninsula of Paliki. It’s a small unspoiled sandy bay with shallow waters and a small river that flows into the sea and is easily traversed by a pontoon bridge, making it a fun game for youngsters! Vatsa beach is ideal for children since the sea gently shelves, allowing them to play in the shallows without fear of it suddenly becoming too deep.

There are no beach or water sports available, but there is a lovely and unconventional tavern. Vatsa offers a calm ambiance that preserves the natural beauty of the area. This visit can be combined with a spectacular sunset at Gero Gobos Lighthouse.

Spartia Beach

Spartia beach is located 12 km southeast of Argostoli. It is a sandy shore with crystal blue and warm calm waters that are gently sloping. This makes it ideal for children. If you like to stroll around the beach you will find interesting rocky enclaves and pools in the outcrops nearby.

The rocky headland provides plenty to explore with a snorkel and mask, as well as some rocks to leap from for the more adventurous types. The beach is not organized and there are no water or beach sports, as it is quite small. Right above the beach lies Panas Hotel, ideal for families with children.

Pessada Beach

Pessada is located 12 km east of Argostoli. This small wonderfully undeveloped bay consists of soft sand, crystal waters and rocks dotted around the bay.

It is not an organized beach and there is no water sport center available, but there is enough space for parking. A path will lead you directly to the beach. The place is ideal for relaxation and peaceful moments.

Paliostafida Beach

Paliostafida is located only 3 km from Argostoli. It is a small sandy beach surrounded by steep cliffs covered with vast greenery, tall pine trees and various plants.

The water is clean and shallow, ideal for children. It is an organized beach with umbrellas, sundecks and beach bar but no water sport center. The limited length of the sandy beach doesn’t allow many beach games.

Paliolinos Beach

Paliolinos is located 15 km south of Argostoli. It is a small beach is surrounded by huge verdant cliffs. The azure seas provide an unusual ambience that complements the surroundings perfectly. Upon climbing the rocks on the left side, there are small private beaches. A place like this is ideal for those waiting to explore the underwater world.

It is not an organized beach and of course tourist facilities are not an option here due to the rocky landscape, but there is a shower and also a shaded area, where you can enjoy the tranquility of this lovely scenery after a dive. The most interesting feature of the area is the gigantic rocks diving in the sea.

Megas Lakos Beach

Megas Lakos is located 35 km from Argostoli, in the peninsula of Paliki. The beach is noticeably different and distinguishes for its deep red sands and crystal clear waters. A stroll further down the coast, you arrive at a lovely peaceful cove. It is perfect for kids as the waters are getting deep slowly.

It is an organized beach with umbrellas, sun beds and a beach bar with exquisite views to the opposite islet of Vardiani. It is quite long, thus it also offers spots for peaceful and private moments.

Megali Ammos Beach

Megali Ammos is located 5 km south of Argostoli. The landscape consists of lush green forests and pine trees. This makes the beach even more beautiful. Due to its close proximity from the capital city, it gathers many visitors on a daily basis.

It is an organized beach with several umbrellas, sundecks and a beach bar. Megali Ammos stretches for about 1, 5 km, offering visitors a chance to practice various water sports and beach games. The water is clean and it gradually gets deeper making it great for children.

Limenia Beach

Limenia beach is found 45 km east of Argostoli, between Skala and Poros. They are actually three narrow beaches one after the other. They are ideal for those who prefer some privacy and relaxation.

The beach is surrounded by olive groves that provide natural shade to the visitors. It is not organized with umbrellas, sun beds or water sport center.

The pebbled beach of Limenia has beautiful clear waters and is great for snorkeling. It is well-known for its rocky outcrops coming out from the water that provide an enchanting landscape, and the best theme for your summer photos.

Lepeda Beach

Lepeda Beach lies 33 km west of Argostoli, in the peninsula of Paliki. It offers exquisite views to the gulf of Argostoli, the Saint Theodori lighthouse and Mount Ainos.

It is a family beach, very good for kids due to the shallow water and natural pools behind the rocks formations. Lepeda is an organized beach with umbrellas, sunbeds and there is also a tavern right on the beach.
